245G.04 amended — new Subd. 4 requires tobacco/nicotine education at service initiation
A new subdivision 4 requires license holders to provide commissioner-approved tobacco and nicotine educational materials to every client on the day service is initiated. The materials must cover health risks, product types (including the commercial/traditional tobacco distinction), treatment options including medication for tobacco use disorder, and the benefits of concurrent tobacco treatment. This applies to all licensed SUD programs at intake.
