Telehealth: Medicare behavioral health in-person visit waiver extended through Dec 31, 2027

Medicare telehealth flexibilities for both behavioral/mental health and non-behavioral services are extended through December 31, 2027. Critically for SUD programs: the requirement for an in-person visit within six months of an initial Medicare behavioral/mental health telehealth service, and annually thereafter, remains waived through that date. Audio-only delivery for non-behavioral Medicare telehealth is also extended through 2027, with a permanent carve-out allowing audio-only for patients at home who lack video capability or decline consent.
